The standard textbook in the field is Nielsen & Chuang, which is very broad and thorough. It covers topics at a much more detailed level than this class and is a mostly self-contained introduction to quantum computing.

A more gentle but still rigorous introduction is N. David Mermin’s lectures notes which have been turned into a textbook.

An excellent quantum computing class at the graduate level has been taught twice at the University of Washington Computer Science & Engineering department under the course number CSE 599D. Both instances were highly inspirational for the current class. In winter 2006, the class was taught by Dave Bacon and in winter 2011 by Aram Harrow.
